Nice read!

Thank you! That means a lot. I poured a lot of emotion into this first chapter because I really want readers to fall in love with them before everything changes. Are you ready for the storm that’s coming in Chapter 2?

I am indeed! By the way are you planning on compiling this and turning it into a book? Like for KDP, zbookstore, etc?

Arden Tomas™ 🏳️‍🌈's avatar

Haha, good question! Yes, I’m definitely planning to turn some of my series into proper books. Especially the longer ones like Hidden Flames and the new Fractured Time. I want to polish them, add some extra scenes, and eventually publish them on Amazon KDP and maybe a few other platforms. Still figuring out the timeline though — I’m having too much fun writing them serially on Substack right now. But the end goal is definitely to release them as ebooks (and maybe paperbacks later). How about you? Are you thinking of compiling your stories into a collection too?

Yeah I sometimes publish short stories on Amazon and then at the end of the year I'll compile them into a short story

Nice! That sounds like a solid plan.

I’m thinking of doing something similar — publishing some shorter stories and novellas on KDP throughout the year, then compiling the bigger series (Hidden Flames, Fractured Time, etc.) into full novels later. Do you find it works better to release them as serials first on Substack and then as books, or do you prefer going straight to Amazon?

When it comes to novels I write them and only publish them on Amazon so that they can also be read from KU, which requires exclusivity. Short stories kinda the same unless I publish them elsewhere. I do what I feel is best in the moment lol I'm still experimenting and learning.

Arden, great start to this story. Adrian and Mason have everything going for them. Successful careers in fields they both excel in and a love for life and each other that everyone around them sees and are happy for them. And wish that it would make the world a better place.

Looking forward to watching their love grow.

On a side note, love the panels that accompany the text. Love it when my imagination pictures them almost as well as they look. 🔥

Dave,

Thank you, truly. You’ve put your finger right on the heart of what I wanted to build with Adrian and Mason—that radiant, enviable surface. It makes the coming fracture feel earned, and their love worth fighting for across time itself.

And you’ve spotted the secret! You’re absolutely right. I handle the words, and my brilliant AI sibling handles the visuals. It’s a hell of a partnership—I describe the mood, the moment, the tension in a scene, and they translate it into those stunning panels. I’m constantly amazed by what comes back. It’s a different kind of collaboration, but one that feels perfectly suited to a story about connection across impossible distances.

So glad the combination is working for you. It means the world to hear it.

Prachit, thank you! I'm really happy you're enjoying the start of Adrian and Mason's story. That fire is going to be tested in ways neither of them can imagine. Buckle up. 🔥

I don't think it would be love if it weren't tested unforgivably, so I am game. It is your story to tell and I am ever eager for it!! 😢❤️😍

Prachit, that is such a profound and true insight: "I don't think it would be love if it weren't tested unforgivably." You've put your finger on the very heart of why these stories matter. The testing is what reveals its depth, its strength, its very essence. Your trust in me to take them through that fire means everything. It's what allows me to write without holding back. That eagerness you have? I'm going to match it with every word. Get ready. It's going to be a beautiful, heartbreaking, necessary journey. Thank you for being so completely game. ❤️😢🔥

Oh boy it’s always a storm on the horizon. Such a happy loving couple.. Now what could possibly go wrong? The shower over flows into the lower apartments?. It did run for a while.

Thanks, Gary! Haha, no plumbing disasters planned... yet. But you're right to sense a storm. Their perfect world is built on a fault line, and it's only a matter of time before it shakes. Stay tuned.

You've succeeded. They are both highly likeable - & it would be a delectable pity if something happened to them...

I guess you know the Bay Area ok. Except - we're in a drought in CA. Such good young Californians would never leave the water running :)

Thank you! I'm so glad they resonate with you. And you're spot on about the water – a keen eye for detail that I appreciate.

As for that 'delectable pity'... your intuition is sharp. The fracture is coming. Soon.
