The wait until the weekend was agonizing. Jacob thought of Oliver every minute. At work he was lost, in meetings he just nodded, numbers and reports turned into meaningless hieroglyphs before his eyes. Home was even worse. Clara was packing, ready for action, happy to be visiting her mother. Jacob helped, smiled, and was going insane inside. Every movement, every word was a lie. In the bedroom, while Clara was zipping her suitcase, Jacob looked in the mirror and didn't recognize himself. The man looking back was a stranger. An actor perfectly playing the role of the sympathetic husband, while his soul was already preparing for Saturday evening, for Oliver's body, his words, his silence.
"Are you sure you won't be too lonely?" Clara asked as the taxi waited at the gate.
"Of course not," Jacob replied, and kissed her forehead. The kiss tasted false and bitter. "Have a good trip, darling."
When the taxi disappeared around the corner, Jacob closed the door and leaned his back against it. The silence that filled the house was not peaceful. It was tense, expectant, electric. Like a stage before the curtain rises.
Oliver arrived exactly two minutes before the agreed time. Jacob watched from the window as his car stopped and Oliver got out. He paused for a moment, looked up at the house as if gathering strength. Jacob's heart was pounding violently. He downed the beer and went to the door.
When he opened it, no words were needed.
Oliver stood on the threshold, in a gray sweater and jeans, his face bearing a longing vulnerability that turned Jacob's insides out. A moment of stiffness, a breath's pause – then Oliver stepped forward, and Jacob pulled him in. The door slammed shut behind them.
There was no kiss. At least not immediately. There was a wild, desperate embrace in the hall, bodies grinding against the wall, hands clutching at fabric, faces buried in necks. They panted like runners at the finish line. The hunger felt in the Greek room, the starvation since then, burst out of them, raw and merciless.
"Jacob," Oliver groaned into his ear, his voice hoarse.
Jacob didn't answer. His hand rose to Oliver's face, and finally he kissed him. This wasn't the kiss of Greek experimentation. This was a whirlpool. Tongues, teeth, salt, and the taste of unspoken pain. Jacob's fingers dug into Oliver's hair, while Oliver's hand slid down Jacob's back and grabbed his ass, clutching, pulling him close. Jacob moaned at the touch, and their kiss became deeper, more voracious.
There was no time for undressing, only for removing obstacles. Jacob pulled Oliver's sweater off, Oliver fumbled open the buttons of Jacob's shirt. Fabric tore, buttons popped. They left the clothes on the hall floor, and Jacob led, groping, Oliver to the bedroom. The bed – the bed, where he slept with Clara – was wide and innocently white.
"My God," Oliver gasped as Jacob pushed him onto the mattress.
Jacob threw himself on top, their bodies connecting full-length, naked, skin hot on skin. Oliver's hand immediately found Jacob's cock, which was already hard and wet with pre-cum. He grabbed it, and Jacob jerked at the touch.
"Wait," Jacob groaned. "Not… not like this."
He climbed on top of Oliver, knelt between his legs, and bent down to take over with his mouth. Oliver's first reaction was a surprised, shy gasp, but as Jacob's tongue circled the head, then took him deep into his throat, his voice turned into moans, into pleas. Jacob's eyes filled with tears. He's here. He's here. The taste of salt, the smell of skin, the hoarse moans – it was all real. Not a dream. Not a memory. This was reality, and Jacob wanted it all, greedily, desperately.
Oliver couldn't last long. His hand clutched Jacob's head, and Jacob let him control the pace, deeper, faster.
"Jacob… I'm… I'm close," Oliver panted.
Jacob didn't pull away. When Oliver finally came with a shudder, Jacob swallowed, greedily, and when Oliver pulled out, Jacob licked the head, getting every drop. The taste of salt was the taste of freedom.
Then Oliver reversed their positions. Gently but firmly laying Jacob down, scattering kisses on his chest, his stomach, moving downward. When he placed his mouth on Jacob's cock, Jacob cried out. Oliver was tentative at first, but quickly found the rhythm, the pressure that drove Jacob crazy. Jacob's hand gripped the headboard, his head fell back. The sight – Oliver, the serious, reserved Oliver, so humble, so service-minded – finally shattered Jacob completely. Then the pain, the pleasure, the guilt and the liberation hit him in a single, roaring wave, and he came too, sobbing into Oliver's mouth.
Later, in bed, cuddling, under the sheet covering their bodies, reality scraped against them.
"What's going to happen to us, Jacob?" Oliver asked quietly, his fingers slowly circling on Jacob's chest.
Jacob stared at the ceiling. The question was in the air, it had always been there, but spoken aloud it felt even heavier, more poisonous.
"I don't know," he answered honestly. His voice was hoarse from crying and shouting. "I know what I want. I want this to be my life. For you to be my life."
Oliver sighed deeply, painfully. "Me too. But… the kids. Clara. Eva. Work. The whole… world."
"I know." Jacob turned his head and looked into Oliver's eyes. Oliver's eyes were red, full of questions and fear. "People will get hurt. No matter what we decide, someone will get hurt. Maybe all of us."
"And if… if we come out?" Oliver's voice was barely audible. "If we tell the truth? What do you think, would they process it? Accept it?"
Jacob thought. He pictured his son, Mark, now a university student, who had always been proud of him. The younger one, Leo, still sixteen, rebellious and sensitive. Clara's face, the shock, the pain, the disappointment. Then Eva's face, Oliver's wife, whom he barely knew, but who clearly loved her husband. The workplace, the gossip, the scornful glances.
"I don't think so," he said finally, the words coming with difficulty. "We don't… we don't live in that kind of world. Or at least, not in their world. Our world…" – he looked around the bedroom, which smelled of Clara – "…this world doesn't exist for them. They wouldn't even understand. They'd stigmatize us."
Oliver cried silently. Jacob held him, pulled him close.
"But I can't take this lying anymore," Oliver whispered into his shoulder. "Every day, when I go home, and Eva asks how my day was, and I talk about work, while in my head it's you… it's killing me. I'm suffocating emotionally."
"Me too," Jacob repeated. "Me too."
They talked for more hours. About their fears, impossible desires, their childhoods, about when they first felt they were different. Jacob had never talked to anyone this deeply, this honestly. Not even with Clara. Here, in this bed, in another man's arms, he finally found his words.
In the evening they got dressed, and Jacob cooked dinner – a simple pasta, which Oliver helped prepare. In the kitchen, with wine, the mood seemed wonderfully normal, familial. They laughed. They touched each other – a shoulder brush, a hand on the back. This was new too: everyday intimacy.
"I have a hot tub in the garden," Jacob said as they were washing up. "If you'd like… it's still warm."
Oliver smiled, and a little sparkle appeared in his eyes. "Why not?"
Ten minutes later they were sitting in the warm, bubbling water, naked, under the starry sky. Steam curled above them. Jacob's hand rested on Oliver's thigh under the water.
"Oliver," Jacob said quietly, his voice tense but determined.
"Yes?"
Jacob took a deep breath. The wine and the trust gave him courage. "In Greece… I was… the one who took. Who was in control."
Oliver nodded, a little awkwardly. "Yes. And I… I gave. I was happy to."
Jacob moved closer to Oliver. "Now… now I'd like to try. The other side. With you."
Oliver's eyes widened. Surprise, then a slow understanding passed over his face. This wasn't an unexpected request; it was the utterance of a deep desire he might have sensed. "Are you sure?" he asked cautiously.
"Yes. Very." Jacob's voice left no doubt. "I trust you."
That was the key. The trust. The surprise on Oliver's face melted into soft, loving acceptance. "Then… then carefully," he said, and his hand found Jacob's thigh under the water.
Jacob leaned over and kissed him – slowly, sensually, not with the earlier desperate voracity. This kiss was a concession, a gift. Oliver kissed back, his fingers playing on Jacob's back, descending along his spine, down to the rounded, muscular ass.
They stood at the edge of the hot tub, the water up to their waists. Oliver prepared Jacob with his fingers, patiently, watching every twitch, every breath. Jacob's face was a mix of desire, tension, and a little fear, his eyes locked on Oliver's, clinging to him. When Oliver finally guided his own cock to Jacob's opening, and slowly, carefully pushed the head in, Jacob cried out loudly – a muffled, surprised sound in which pain and pleasure were already intertwined.
Oliver stopped, letting him get used to it. "Okay?" he asked hoarsely, worried.
Jacob just nodded, his eyes teary. His hand gripped Oliver's arm. "Yes… just… slowly."
Then they began to move. Oliver led, but followed Jacob's rhythm. Slowly, gradually, going deeper. The water rippled around them, the steam entwining them. Oliver felt Jacob in every fiber of his being – the yielding opening of his body, the tightness of the flesh, the trembling of his shoulders. Jacob's hand gripped Oliver's back, his fingers digging into the muscle. The movement became more natural, more urgent. Jacob began to lead the pace with his hips, pulling himself back onto Oliver, who surrendered to the guidance. There was no more fear, only desire, an ancient, humming rhythm where power and submission constantly exchanged places.
Oliver bent down and kissed Jacob as his hips kept thrusting. Jacob's tongue clung to his mouth, his moans melting into Oliver's tongue. This wasn't wild discovery like before. This was a lovers' dance, a complete surrender, where Jacob finally gave himself up from under his burdens, and Oliver received him. Oliver felt as if he were penetrating Jacob's soul, not just his body.
The tension built, slowly, inevitably. Jacob's hand slipped down between them and grabbed his own cock, rubbing it quickly, desperately. Seeing this, Oliver accelerated the pace, going deeper, hitting that spot that made Jacob scream out, his body stiffening.
"Oliver… God… Oliver!" Jacob's body convulsed, then he came, long and shuddering, his cum flowing into the warm water, Oliver's movements squeezing out the last drops.
The sight, the feeling, the change in Jacob's face from released tension – that was enough for Oliver. After a few strong, deep thrusts, he came too, sobbing into Jacob, his body collapsing onto him, his head resting on his shoulder.
The kiss that followed was slow, salty, and full of everything they couldn't say.
During the kiss, as their breath slowed and they only heard the bubbling of the water, a sound broke the silence.
A key scraping in the front door lock.
A woman's footsteps, which were not Clara's calm, familiar gait. These were hurried, clumsy.
Jacob and Oliver froze in each other's arms. They looked up from the edge of the hot tub.
Clara stood in the terrace doorway, her suitcase in her hand. Her face showed no travel fatigue. Only pure, stunned emptiness. Her eyes were wide open, her mouth slightly agape. Her gaze stuck on Jacob and Oliver – naked, entwined in the water, their mouths still pressed together.
For a minute, nothing happened. The world stopped.
Then the emptiness on Clara's face shattered, replaced by a wild, ugly contortion. Her eyes bulged, her mouth stretched into a silent scream. The suitcase fell from her hand and hit the floor with a loud thud.
"You… you…" The word wouldn't come out of her throat. She took a step back, then turned and rushed into the house. Her bedroom door slammed shut, followed by the sound of the lock turning.
Jacob and Oliver stood motionless in the water, naked, wet, ashamed. Cold fear crawled into Jacob's stomach and stayed there like a block of ice.
"My God," Oliver whispered, his voice trembling. "Oh, my God."
Jacob wanted to get out, but his body wouldn't obey. He just stared at the terrace door where Clara had disappeared. The reality he had feared so much was finally here. And it was much more terrible than he had imagined.
Oliver left half an hour later, quickly, quietly, like a burglar. Jacob helped him get dressed, but neither of them spoke. Fear and shame stuffed their mouths.
"I'm going home," Oliver said finally, as they stood at the door. "I'll tell Eva. Before Clara calls her. That way… that way it might be less vile."
Jacob nodded, wordless. He hugged Oliver – a quick, tight hug – then Oliver hurried out to his car.
Jacob closed the door and stood in the middle of the hall, where just hours ago the storm of their desire had raged. Now there was only silence, and the dull rumble of Clara's sobbing behind the closed door.
He went to the door. "Clara," he spoke quietly. His voice was hoarse. "Clara, please… talk to me."
There was no answer. Only the sobbing.
Oliver drove home, his hands shaking on the wheel. When he entered his own house, Eva was sitting in the living room, watching a movie.
"You're home early," she said, looking up. Then she saw his face. "Oliver? What happened?"
Oliver sat down on the couch opposite her. His heart was beating so hard he thought it would burst his chest.
"Eva," he began, and his voice broke. "There's something I have to tell you. Something that's… been going on for a long time."
Eva turned off the TV. Her face showed no surprise. Only a deep, weary acceptance.
"It's about him, isn't it?" she asked softly. "Jacob."
Oliver's eyes widened. "H… how…?"
Eva sighed and buried her face in her hands for a moment. "Oliver, darling. I've known for years. Or at least suspected. The way you look at each other when you meet. The long evenings with 'colleagues.' I thought maybe it was just friendship, but… your heart hasn't been here. Not for a long time."
Oliver's tears finally broke. He burst into sobs. "I'm sorry. I'm so very sorry. I never wanted to hurt you."
"I know," Eva said, and her voice was strangely calm. "And I'm sorry too. Because I know this isn't just about sex. You love him, don't you?"
Oliver just nodded, wordless.
"I also know that Clara suspected," Eva continued. "She just didn't want to admit it to herself. Now, having to see it… now she's in shock. But the knowledge was already in her."
Oliver didn't understand. How could both of them have known, and yet tolerated it in silence? Out of fear? Fear of confrontation? Fear of the family falling apart?
"What happens now?" Oliver asked, his voice trembling.
Eva stood up, went to him, and cradled his head. "Now," she said softly, "now you finally don't have to lie. And maybe… maybe we can all start figuring out what comes next."
Oliver sobbed into his wife's lap, while in his mind floated the image of Jacob – standing alone in the hall, listening to Clara's sobs. The hopeless situation he had feared so much was finally here. And somewhere, deep beneath the terror and the shame, there was also a tiny, dark spark of relief. Because the lying was over.
The hope, however, was not.

This. The unraveling. I was trepidatively (not a word, I know) waiting for this part. Would it be sunshine and rainbows? Or gut-wrenching. A little of both, it seems. I really like how you've carefully kept Oliver's and Jacob's situations separate. Of course Oliver's wife would know - because Oliver's been miserable and cheatin for years. Poor Oliver could've come clean long ago - she was gonna be understanding. Jacob, tho - Oliver's his first. No compassion for him from the wife. She's gonna take it personally. I think things are gonna be super tough for Jacob. This story feels nuanced, real life. Thanks!
